bonfires and children, part 2
next to the bonfire there was a large field.
when the children weren't watching the fire they were running around in the field.
the colours were amazing enough already, but then the full moon rose. it was so beautiful.
in the bottom picture a man known to me is finishing his giant beer just before falling into a deep 11 hour sleep (at 9 pm).

grey in unterhaching
the first stop on our tour through southern Germany was Unterhaching, a small (and, sorry, not particularly inspiring) town outside Munich.
we arrived in the morning after a short night on the plane and were slightly out of tune all day.
things improved after breakfast and a shower at our frinds' place.
the weather was grey and cold, but we took a little walk.
luckily later in the afternoon things lightened up just in time for our first Radler.

holga
1. hiking in the Alps, looking down on the Walchensee
2. flowers in my father-in-law's garden
3. tomatoes in my father-in-law's little greenhouse
4. firewood my father-in-law's garden
5. music pavilion in Františkovy Lázně, CZ, where we celebrated my father-in-law's birthday
I bought a Holga the day before we left for Germany.
I had been thinking about it for a long time and I'm so glad I finally did it.
I bought the very basic model 120N without a flash for $26 at the great K + M Photography.
The pictures turned out exactly the way I had imagined, I love the colours and the dark corners.

back
this morning:
1. delicious homemade elderberry and red wine jam made by my sister-in-law Rike
2. kohlrabi and beets
back in NYC from a great ten days in the south of germany.
we saw some old friends, a new friend and lots of family. more pictures soon.
being a bit jet lagged meant we were wide awake by 6 am this morning.
we went for a run in the park (to feel less guilty about the enormous amounts of bavarian and bohemian food we enjoyed last week),
had breakfast and managed to do our weekly shopping at the park slope food coop before T had to go to work.
I should get started organizing my life, but I'm just so sleepy.

fly
T. got a Tensegritoy (a tensegrity toy discontinued a couple of years ago) off ebay a few weeks back.
last weekend he and our friend N. built a couple of structures with it,
the Icosahedron (above) being the final masterpiece.
we had a little photoshoot in prospect park the other morning to document it before it was disassembled again.
it was fun to be taking these picture inbetween runners, cyclists, dogwalkers and fitness crazy people with their personal trainers.
we're going to Germany tonight for 10 days, to see some friends and family in the south,
and for a big familiy party next week on saturday.
I hope to be taking lots of pictures, on film after all these digital ones.
Have a good weekend, and a good next week!
