flying west, 12.2010

hello! I am alive and well... how have you been?

I realized I never posted the pictures of our december 2010 trip to california,
so we are now traveling back in time, a little over a year.

when we knew we were moving back to germany at the beginning of january 2011
we decided on a last minute trip to california between christmas and new years' eve.

these first ones were taken on our flight west.
the brown geometric patterns of the midwest were just incredible.

Olhão, blue hour

from our hostel's roof terrace we had the perfect view
over the old city's flat roofs at sunset.
a memorable last night, also for the huge Cataplana we ate an hour later.

Olhão, ria formosa

we spent the last two days of our trip in Olhão,
which is a town in the Algarve east of super touristy Faro.

the pictures above are from the nature reserve Ria Formosa.

praia da falesia

after driving south from Evora through the heat for hours
we stopped at Praia da Falesia to cool off
before heading further east along the Algarve coast to our final destination.

swimming, looking over the blue water back at the red cliffs,
was one of my favorite moments of our trip.

Évora

our next stop was the beautiful city of Évora.
it was quite hot, so we wandered around a little (picture 1)
and took lots of café breaks and mid-day naps.

as the sun was setting the town became lively again (pictures 2 and 3),
and so did we (picture 4).

bye bye Lisboa

our last nigth in Lisbon at the torre de belém looking out over the water,
and our last coffee in Lisbon the next morning before heading further south.

sintra
