and now, back to summer here in NY:

on a particularly hot weekend at the end of august
we went camping at the beach on fire island with friends C and M.
apart from the mosquitoes hungry for our blood
it was a lot of fun

setting up camp, picnicking,
watching the sun set over the dunes,
a red moon rise over the water,
and, later, a glow in the east soon followed by the rising sun.

it was so good to leave the city for a day.

dia:Beacon - Richard Serra

Richard Serra's works were definitely one of the highlights.
It's difficult to describe their power in words.

After the exhibition we had a little picnic and a nap on the lawn in front of the museum.
I'd very much recommend a visit.

dia:Beacon - Sol LeWitt

we took a little trip up the Hudson to dia:Beacon last Sunday.

The spaces are absolutely amazing, with more natural light than you could ever imagine.

Sol LeWitt's works were amazing. I'm a friend of pretty much any kind of geometrical lines on white ground,
but the scale of these was just breathtaking.

in the afternoon we stopped at a lovely little tea house
and had tea, scones and an amazing homemade tea sorbet.

in a church somewhere along the way we saw these knee pillows.
there was one for every seat and no two seemed alike. amazing!

last sunday i went walking in kent with some friends.
it was so nice and relaxing to get out of town!
